Pocket

Pocket was my final capstone project for the Vertical Institute User Experience Design Bootcamp. This bootcamp requires students to create an application that is related to finance, and I chose personal budgeting as my subject.

Research was done through journals, surveys and in-depth interview of the target audience. Key insights and findings were then identified to find out the key pain points and how the app could solve them.

Low and mid fidelity mock ups, mid fidelity was also used for user testing before creating the final prototype.

Potential Improvements

Conclusion

To improve the key function - which is the personalised budget function, more research can be done on how to get more information. It can be a quiz before they start using the app, or it can even be going deep into different kinds of spending habits.

The overall app identity can also be more refined, such as the logo, colour scheme and the overall UI.

This was a intense bootcamp of 7 lessons, it was comprehensive and gave me a good introduction of what UX design was. This bootcamp thought me lots of UX research methods, and how to derive key insights from it - and how to transform this insights into creating good design that could help users with different pain points.
